Postdoctoral Position (f/m)

Stellenangebot vom 31. Juli 2018

The Department NMR-based Structural Biology (Prof. Dr. Christian Griesinger) at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry is seeking to fill a 3-year

Postdoctoral Position (m/f)
The role of synuclein in human malignancies

(Code Number 20-18)

with a focus on cancer biology and specifically, the role and functions of intrinsically disordered proteins in various human malignancies.

The Department focuses upon the development of NMR techniques and their application to important biological questions, with one them focusing upon the role and functions of intrinsically disordered proteins, such as the synucleins in various neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. In close collaborations with other established investigators, whose scientific expertise lies in the fields of basic cancer research, cell cycle regulation, proteomics, and live-cell imaging, we now aim to explore the mechanisms of action of these proteins by way of using recently developed small-molecule compounds that interfere with their aggregation and thus, are therapeutically beneficial in neurodegenerative diseases and human malignancies.

Your profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with excellent communication skills to join our research team. Applicants should have a PhD, an MD/PhD, or MD degree with extensive research training in molecular/cell biology, and a strong scientific background and interest in basic cancer research.
Interested candidates should have research experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular and cell biology techniques, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, and human tumor xenograft studies. Fluency in written and spoken English is required; German is an asset.

Our benefits
We offer excellent working conditions in a strong international and highly interdisciplinary research environment. The payment and benefits are based on the German TVöD guidelines. We offer opportunities regarding work-life balance and health promotion services. The starting date is flexible, but should start as soon as possible.
