Getting a taste of the future
What does the DNA of a banana look like? How does a computer work? How do you engrave words into a hair? At the Future Day for girls and boys around 90 children were given an insight into scientific and non-scientific work at our institute.
Enzymes in dementia: EU awards around 2.5 Million euros for german research project
Markus Zweckstetter, research group leader at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) Göttingen and at our institute, has been awarded an ERC Advanced Grant. He will use the approximately 2.5 million euros to research the biomolecular mechanisms involved in Alzheimer’s disease. (Press release by the DZNE)
Light into the darkness of photosynthesis
Plant photosynthesis is essential for life on Earth. Researchers from Göttingen and Hannover now succeeded in visualizing the copying machine of chloroplasts, the RNA polymerase PEP, in high-resolution 3D for the first time. The snapshot provides new insights into the function and evolution of this cellular machine, which is essential for photosynthesis.
