Our research focuses on a detailed understanding of reactive and dynamical processes relevant to molecular transformations in solution. We gain this information from time-resolved experiments based on femtosecond laser spectroscopy and classical molecular dynamics calculations. The manifold of interactions between reactant and solvent environment are unravelled using supercritical solvents where macroscopic properties like temperature, density or viscosity can be changed easily. On a microscopic scale the strength of interactions and the rate of fluctuations between molecules are tuned which permits to disentangle the different dynamical processes.
