Scientific Service & Facilities

At our institute we use a wide range of state-of-the-art methods. Many of these technologies, be it electron microscopy, mass spectrometry, fluorescence light microscopy, or crystallization, require profound experience and expertise. Our researchers therefore receive active support for their projects from our scientific facilities which are headed by highly qualified colleagues.

Scientific Facilities

The Proteomics Facility, a part of the Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Group, offers a variety of routine proteomics analyses. more
The Crystallization Facility provides services and infrastructure for the crystallization of macromolecules and macromolecular complexes including screening service, in situ diffraction tests, and organization of remote synchrotron time. more
The Animal Facility keeps mice, rats, rabbits, frogs, starfish, planarians, and alpacas for scientific research projects. The transgenic laboratory offers techniques for assisted reproduction and for generation of transgenic mouse lines. more
The Facility for Synthetic Chemistry synthesizes and analyzes organic compounds required for various research projects. more
The Live-cell Imaging Facility provides access to cutting-edge microscopy technologies as well as support in sample preparation, assay development, and image data analysis.  more
The Bioreactor Facility provides an upscale of your established processes under optimal and controlled growth conditions and a harvesting pipeline. more
The HeLa Bioreactor Facility specializes in the high yield, high density growth of HeLa cells in medium to large scales, and the preparation of HeLa cell extracts for biochemistry and proteomics. more
The Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility provides access to infrastructure for single-particle cryo-EM sample screening and data acquisition. more
The Scanning Electron Microscopy Facility harbors an ultra-high resolution field emission in-lens scanning electron microscope and the complementary equipment required for sample preparation. more
The Transmission Electron Microscopy Facility offers a platform for all researchers at the institute to discuss, plan, and perform transmission electron microscopic experiments. more

Scientific Service

The EU Liaison Office offers its assistance to scientists of the Max Planck Institutes in Göttingen  in regard to all questions related to EU funding. more
The GAUSS Career Service is a service for all junior researchers at our institute and in the life and natural sciences at the Göttingen Campus. Besides offers for career support and advice, it aims at facilitating the networking within the postdoc community. more
The Office for Research Support provides regular information of staff members about research funding and current calls, advice, and support when applying and organizes seminars addressing funding. more
The Otto Hahn Library (OHB) is a scientific library on the Max Planck Campus with literature and information. In cooperation with the Max Planck Digital Library the OHB gives access to important electronic resources like e-journals, databases and e-books. more
